PROGRAMS
Baltimore Community Rowing Juniors is a competitive rowing program with year-round opportunities for high school and middle school athletes in the Baltimore metro area. Middle school athletes learn the basics of the rowing stroke and improve their general fitness. High school athletes learn the skills and develop the fitness to compete regionally and nationally. Participants attend public and private schools in Baltimore City and the surrounding counties. BCR Juniors serves an average of 150 student athletes a year in a diverse, supportive, and inclusive rowing community on the banks of the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River.
Student athletes from Baltimore City are served through Reach High Baltimore, founded in 2011 as an outreach program of BCR Juniors. Reach High Baltimore provides middle and high school students from Baltimore City Public Schools with access to high-level training and racing in the sport of rowing in addition to fee assistance, transportation assistance, and summer job opportunities. By leveling the playing field for athletes of color, Reach High Baltimore and BCR Juniors strive to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive access point to the sport of rowing for all athletes.
