PROGRAMS

Adult Programs

01

Learn-to-Row

Each Learn-to-Row session features 5 classes and is intended to be an introduction to the basics of rowing. Participants will attend a 1-day land-based orientation session and 4 classes where participants will learn to row in a 4-person sculling shell.

Foundations

Foundations of Rowing builds on the skills learned in Learn-to-Row and prepares the participant to transition to other BCR coached programs such as the Open, Development, and Competitive Teams.

Open Rowing

Open Sculling & Sweep is a program for rowers with experience beyond an introductory rowing course, such as BCR's Foundations of Rowing course. Goals of the group include increasing fitness, improving technique, and regional racing.

Competitive Team

Competitive is for athletes interested in maintaining a high level of fitness  and technical proficiency for regional and national competition. Athletes must be proficient in both sweep and sculling.

Development Team

Development Team is for adult athletes interested in advancing their fitness and technical proficiency, developing both sweep and sculling skills for competition and eventual advancement to the Competitive Team.

Collegiate/U23

The U23 summer team is open to  collegiate rowers, coxswains, and incoming college freshman who are experienced rowers, with a focus on developing your personal skill and fitness at a competitive level.

Membership

Annual Membership

$275 per year (Late fee of $50 for renewals received after Jan. 15.)

Baltimore Community Rowing (BCR) Annual Members have full access to all membership benefits as outlined below:

  • Access to adult programming – Competitive, Development, and Open Rowing. (Program fees are paid for separately.)

  • Right to vote in annual Board of Directors election

  • Eligibility to be nominated to serve on the Board of Directors

  • Eligibility to participate in the bow certification process

  • Eligibility for boat rack rental (a waiting list is currently in place)

  • Once bow certified, members have access to independent use of BCR singles & doubles through the payment of Equipment Use fees

 

All adult rowers at BCR--excluding LTR and Foundations of Rowing participants--must purchase an Annual Membership before rowing at BCR. LTR participants advance to Foundations of Rowing at the completion of their LTR class and must purchase an Annual Membership when advancing from Foundations of Rowing to another coached program.

 

Annual Membership fees are due January 1st and are good for the calendar year in which they are paid, expiring December 31st. Membership fees are paid when signing up for the first time or when renewing membership. Membership fees support operating costs of the organization, including facilities, daily operating costs, and equipment maintenance and repairs.

To purchase an Annual Membership to BCR, select a program below for registration on iCrew (club code: 3GDRN). Once you have registered, you will pay your Annual Membership fee and a program-specific fee. All BCR Annual Members must also become a Basic USRowing member, sign the USRowing waiver, and complete USRowing-mandated SafeSport training (all available at www.usrowing.org; club code: 3GDRN)
