Rowing Programs : Coxswain

Greetings and Saluations
Coxswains -- Hello 2008! I hope you are all well rested, and ready to get back in the driver's seat. (Some of you are already coxing in the mornings.)
This year we are going to try a few new things. (Thanks to to Sunil Soprey, Megan Szymanski, Mike Chin, and Cara West for the thinking and planning.)

  • Develop a more cohesive cox group (regular meetings, 'fun' cox races)
  • More training for coxes
  • Recruit more coxes
  • Have a lot more fun!!@@!!
We are thinking about holding monthly meetings -- maybe on a Saturday -- to chat about coxing issues, training, and the like. The first topic will be "Getting Back on the Water", with the main components being boat safety and equipment. As the season progresses, we can talk about more advanced items (racing, motivation, ... )
Our first meeting is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, at 10:30am, at Harvest Table in Locust Point
P.S. For new coxes (and as a reminder to 'seasoned' coxes), please review the cox document Andrew Swiatowicz put together.: BRCJ_Coxswain_Guidelines.pdf (5MB)
For more information, contact our Sunil Soprey, our coxswain attache.
