Novice Rowing

When: Monday and Wednesday evenings,6:30 -8:30 PM. 

What: Novice Rowing is a program for new rowers who have completed a Learn-to-Row class at BCR. The Novice program is split into two sessions - summer and fall. 

Emphasis will be on learning proper technique in the boat and on the rowing machine, boat handling skills, and increasing fitness as the class progresses. Novice Rowing is designed to help the new rower define their goals and ultimately transition into one of BCR's other rowing programs. Whether you want to get fit and stay healthy or you are motivated to learn something new, the rowing community is made up of athletes who have a passion for the sport and a desire to guide others in finding the joy on the water. 

Prerequisites:

  • Rowers must complete a Learn-to-Row course at BCR prior to registering for Novice Rowing. 
  • To ensure good progress and skill retention, regular participation in scheduled practices is strongly encouraged. While work and family obligations sometimes take priority, every effort should be made to maximize participation. 

Fee: Program fees are as follows:

  • Summer session (26 practices): $520
  • Fall session (20 practices): $400
